Arrest of a Central Operative Expands the Investigation

Muzaffarpur law enforcement has taken Ejaz Qamar into custody in Patna, raising the total number of detainees in the case to four. Officials allege that Qamar played a pivotal role in obtaining Aadhaar‑related documents and then using a Bihar address to fabricate a Bangladeshi passport.

Official statement

City Superintendent of Police Mohibullah Ansari announced the arrest at a Sunday press briefing. Investigators are now tracing Qamar’s network beyond Bihar, including possible foreign ties, as his spouse and several relatives live in London.

Raids That Triggered the Arrests

The inquiry began after Nagar police raided Kanhai Communication in Motijheel, confiscating a laptop and other electronic equipment. The operation led to the detention of Sahil Kumar, whose interrogation yielded additional leads.

  • Shiv Kumar Pandit of Saran district – arrested after being identified by Sahil Kumar.
  • Sujeet – taken into custody on Saturday.
  • Ejaz Qamar – apprehended in Patna.

All four suspects have been placed in judicial custody, according to Nagar police station SHO JP Singh.

Insights Into Qamar’s Alleged Role

During questioning, Qamar claimed he worked as a vendor offering Aadhaar‑related services. Police note that he holds an MTech degree and entered the Aadhaar sector after leaving a previous job. Investigators suspect he leveraged this position to run or support the illegal document‑forging ring.

Qamar hails from Ara and is believed to have coordinated activities from Chandigarh, maintaining links across several Indian states.

How the Scheme Operated

According to investigators, Qamar secured contracts for Aadhaar updates, supplied the necessary electronic gear, and hired operators to execute the work. These operatives were reportedly paid roughly ₹30,000 per month.

Police are probing whether this infrastructure was used to create or alter identity records, enabling the production of counterfeit passports and other documents.

Continuing the Investigation

Authorities are reaching out to police departments in other states to identify additional participants and to map the full chain of the alleged network. The probe remains active, with a focus on exposing every link that facilitated the illegal issuance of identity documents.
