Delhi. Police in the Sadar Bazar district have taken a 56‑year‑old man into custody after a girl studying in Class 6 reportedly was sexually assaulted inside a local shop.
The victim had stepped out to purchase school supplies, according to investigators. Once inside the shop, the suspect is alleged to have tied her hands and feet before committing the assault.
Following the child’s complaint, officers filed a case at the women’s police station, invoking sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to rape, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and illegal confinement.
The accused, identified as Maqsood, was apprehended on Friday. Detectives continue to gather forensic evidence and interview witnesses as the probe progresses.
