Satna, Madhya Pradesh – A disturbing case of assault and intimidation involving a college student has emerged in Satna. Four female suspects allegedly took the 19‑year‑old student to an isolated field, physically assaulted her, filmed the attack and used the footage to coerce her into befriending a particular male student.

The episode is said to have occurred on 6 August, but it only came to light more than a month later when the video began circulating on Instagram and WhatsApp. The victim then approached the Kolgawan police station and lodged a formal complaint.

According to the FIR, an acquaintance invited the student to the market under the pretext of completing some work. Once there, the acquaintance drove her on a scooter to a vacant field where three other girls were already waiting. Upon arrival, the four girls verbally abused the student and proceeded to assault her.

The complaint further states that the accused were pressuring the student to establish contact and maintain a friendship with a specific boy. When she refused, they beat her and forced her to apologise to the boy during a video call.

Matter Reached Police After the Video Went Viral

The victim alleges that the girls threatened to publish the assault video if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Ironically, the video later spread widely on social media platforms, prompting the student to seek police assistance.

Taking cognizance of the viral clip, the Satna police launched an investigation and, on Saturday, registered a case against the four accused under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The sections invoked include 296(b), 115(2), 351(3) and 3(5).

Authorities are now probing the motive behind the coercion and the role of the male student allegedly targeted by the assailants.
