Gurugram: Gurugram police have taken Kalyan Bainsla into custody after a manhunt that began on September 13. The accused, who fled the scene of a collision that left biker Siya injured on Golf Course Road, was apprehended in Dausa, Rajasthan. He is now being questioned and further aspects of the case are under investigation.
The incident was initially recorded as a traffic violation under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for reckless driving, following a suo motu filing at the Sector‑56 police station.
A thorough review of the video evidence, however, revealed that the car was deliberately steered toward Siya’s Aprilia RS 457. The footage showed the driver first signalling for her to halt, and when she did not comply, accelerating the vehicle into her bike. Consequently, investigators upgraded the charge to Section 109 of the BNS, which deals with attempted murder.
Three dedicated task forces were created to trace Bainsla after he vanished from the crime scene. Their coordinated search culminated in his arrest in Dausa, where he is now facing up to ten years of imprisonment if convicted under the attempted‑murder provision.
Siya, who was riding with a group of motorcyclists at the time, posted a video on Instagram alleging that the driver intentionally targeted her bike. Police say the interrogation will focus on reconstructing the entire sequence of events and corroborating the video findings.
