Enforcement Directorate Conducts Simultaneous Raids at 17 Sites Tied to Amrit Group Over Investor Fraud Claims

Kolkata. In a sweeping move within a money‑laundering investigation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed coordinated search operations on Wednesday at roughly 17 locations associated with Amrit Group’s entities and their promoters in Kolkata and Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The raids are linked to allegations of an investment‑related scam.

Background of the Probe

The ED invoked the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to examine a series of premises across both cities. The agency’s focus stems from complaints that a large number of investors may have been duped by the group’s financial offers.

Alleged Scheme

According to the investigating officials, Amrit Group’s companies and their directors allegedly attracted public money through various deposit schemes, promising unusually high returns. The promise of such returns, however, is said to have remained unfulfilled, leaving investors at a loss.

ED’s Search Operations

The enforcement action forms part of a broader inquiry into suspected financial irregularities and the possible laundering of proceeds. While officials have confirmed that searches were conducted, they have not disclosed the specific documents, electronic data, or other evidence seized during the raids.

Current Status

As of now, neither Amrit Group nor its promoters have offered a public comment on the ED’s intervention. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities expected to analyse the material gathered from the seized premises.
