Attempted Abduction at Galleria Market

On 21 September, a routine stop at Galleria Market turned into a terror‑filled episode for 23‑year‑old Sahil Arora. After parking his vehicle and stepping into a coffee shop, he returned to discover three unknown men inside his car, one brandishing a handgun and demanding that Sahil drive them away.

Quick Reflexes Thwart the Attack

When the pistol misfired, Sahil seized the chance, floored the accelerator and forced the front‑seat assailant to abandon the vehicle. The two occupants in the back jumped out as the car surged forward, melting into the surrounding traffic.

A scooter then forced Sahil to a sudden stop. The remaining gunman fled the scene, leaving the firearm behind. Investigators later retrieved the pistol from the car as part of their evidence‑gathering.

Police Response and Detentions

The following day, Sahil filed a complaint at the Sector‑29 police station. The Crime Branch, Sector‑43, immediately launched an investigation, eventually tracking down five individuals:

  • Praveen – resident of Sector‑67, Gurugram
  • Sumer Singh – Lakshman Vihar, Gurugram
  • Shiv Shankar – Vaidharm Colony, Faridabad
  • Aman – Meethapur, Delhi
  • Hemant – Meethapur, Delhi

All five were placed in custody while detectives reconstructed each suspect’s alleged role in the kidnapping plot.

Commission Dispute as the Motive

According to ACP Naveen Sharma, the entire scheme stemmed from a disagreement over a property‑commission fee. Praveen had assisted Sahil’s father in sealing a deal, only to watch another party close it, leaving Praveen without the commission he expected.

Police contend that the financial grievance drove Praveen to collude with Sumer Singh, hoping to pressure Sahil’s father into paying the overdue amount and to scrap the subsequent sale.

GPS Tracking and Pre‑Planned Execution

Investigators discovered that Praveen had earlier fitted a GPS tracker onto Sahil’s car, allowing the conspirators to follow his movements in real time. The pair is believed to have travelled from Nuh, weapon in hand, and recruited Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant to carry out the operation.

The ultimate goal, according to police, was to coerce Sahil’s father into settling the commission claim by using the kidnapping threat as leverage.

Authorities are preparing to present the five arrested individuals before a magistrate. Further interrogations will focus on the depth of the conspiracy, the origin of the firearm, and the precise involvement of each accused.
