Overview of the Incident
Haridwar: A sudden collapse struck a wing of Amrit Law College in the Dhanouri‑Pirankaliyar locality, bringing down a portion of the building adjacent to the restroom area. The unexpected failure sent a shockwave through the campus where a Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) platoon was on duty.
Rescue Efforts
According to eyewitnesses, a PAC constable became trapped under the falling debris, triggering an immediate emergency response. Officers from the Kaliyar police station and the Dhanouri outpost arrived within minutes, joined by rescue squads that began carefully clearing the rubble.
Working against time, the rescuers painstakingly removed concrete fragments and broken masonry, searching for the injured jawan. After a focused operation, they succeeded in extracting the trapped officer and moving him to a secure location.
Medical Response and Aftermath
The rescued PAC member, together with several staff members who suffered minor injuries, were swiftly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police officials carried out a preliminary survey of the collapse site, documenting the damage and recording initial statements from witnesses.
