Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received a group of young delegates from Haryana who were on a three‑day exploration of Uttarakhand. The interaction at the chief minister’s residence gave the guests a chance to voice their observations on the state’s recent progress in road‑linkage, broadband reach, tourism, renewable energy and social welfare.
Infrastructure upgrades win cheers
The delegation highlighted the swift expansion of both highways and high‑speed internet across the rugged terrain. They pointed out that even the most isolated hamlets are now accessible, thanks to newly carved mountain passes and extended fiber‑optic cables.
Railway extensions also earned praise; the youngsters noted that better train services are unlocking fresh opportunities for pilgrims and tourists alike.
Beyond transport, the visitors admired Uttarakhand’s clean air and the surge in homestay establishments, crediting proactive government policies that are turning family homes into thriving micro‑enterprises.
Special mention was made of infrastructure projects in border districts, which the youths said are narrowing the development gap for communities living on the frontiers.
Homestays, solar rooftops and a serene ambience
During their itinerary, the Haryana team witnessed how upgraded tourism facilities are drawing larger crowds to the state. They observed that improved roads and visitor amenities are directly fueling the local economy.
The solar rooftop scheme was described as a forward‑looking initiative, perfectly suited to Uttarakhand’s abundant sunshine and mountainous landscape.
Equally striking was the tranquil vibe and warm hospitality of the residents, which helped the visitors connect with the cultural tapestry that earns the region the title “Devbhoomi.”
CM Dhami on learning across state lines
Welcoming the guests, CM Dhami invoked the timeless principle of “Atithi Devo Bhava.” He emphasized that youth exchanges between states nurture an appreciation of India’s diversity while showcasing successful development models, innovative practices and inclusive policies.
According to Dhami, such interactions can ignite idea‑sharing and inspire young leaders to replicate best‑practices in their own regions.
Emphasis on last‑mile development
The chief minister reiterated that Uttarakhand’s agenda is geared toward channeling growth benefits to the grassroots. He outlined welfare schemes aimed at poor families, women, farmers and the youth, all rooted in the Antyodaya philosophy.
Transparent recruitment drives have reportedly placed around 35,000 young professionals in state services over the past five years, creating new avenues for employment and entrepreneurship.
Progress balanced with heritage
Uttarakhand, Dhami explained, is moving forward while safeguarding its cultural and natural legacy. Key programmes span women’s empowerment, self‑employment, tourism promotion, local‑product branding, homestay support, solar energy rollout and border‑area development. He also referenced the state’s steps toward a Uniform Civil Code.
Young people as digital brand ambassadors
During the dialogue, the CM encouraged the Haryana visitors to amplify their positive experiences on social media. He described them as potential “digital brand ambassadors” who could showcase Uttarakhand’s pilgrimage sites, tourism offerings, traditional crafts, millets, homestays and the successes of women’s self‑help groups.
By sharing these stories, the youths can help spread awareness of Uttarakhand’s initiatives nationwide, strengthening cultural ties and fostering collaborative growth between Haryana and Uttarakhand in culture, tourism, innovation and development.
