Centre Disburses Second Installment for Himachal’s Farming Initiatives
The Union Government has unlocked a fresh allocation of ₹64.82 crore to reinforce agricultural programmes throughout Himachal Pradesh. The funds are earmarked for two cornerstone schemes that seek to modernise the state’s agrarian sector.
Allocation Breakdown
Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre has set aside ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore will flow through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Combined, these two components constitute the full ₹64.82 crore package.
Political Leaders Applaud the Support
Hamirpur MP and former Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued financial backing. Thakur emphasized that this fresh tranche will fortify ongoing infrastructure works and spark new projects aimed at strengthening Himachal’s farm sector.
Intended Use of the Funds
The infusion is slated to finance a spectrum of activities—from seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to capacity‑building workshops for growers. By reinforcing both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana, the state can accelerate planned interventions and sustain momentum on existing initiatives.
Wider Context
This disbursement forms part of a broader central strategy to ensure timely resource flow for agriculture‑centric schemes across states. Himachal Pradesh’s latest tranche underscores the collaborative partnership between the centre and the state in keeping vital farm programmes financially robust.
