Sethi Complex Inferno Rages 13 Hours in Jaipur; Owner Faces FIR

Jaipur. Following a devastating fire at the Sethi Complex in Minhari Ji Ka Katla, Badi Chaupar, police have lodged an FIR against the property’s owner, Anand Sethi. The complaint cites illegal extensions, non‑functional fire‑fighting equipment, the absence of a valid Fire NOC, and blocked access routes that hampered rescue efforts.

The blaze ignited on the second floor and smoldered for roughly 13 hours, swiftly consuming merchandise stored across multiple shops and warehouses. Fire crews were forced to conduct an extended operation before the flames could be subdued.

According to the police report, fire engines struggled to reach the site because the surrounding lanes were narrow and littered with obstacles. This forced firefighters to improvise temporary access points to combat the inferno.

"The limited width of the streets and the obstruction of entry points significantly delayed the arrival of fire‑tenders," the report noted.

Among the affected businesses were Satnam Madan Traders, Jitendra/Kamal, Kamal Agarwal, Shailendra Agarwal, Rajesh, Hasan, Ramesh/Rajesh, Rakesh Gupta’s Vimal Hosiery Agency, Chhotumai Purushottam, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Vikas Sharma and several others. Units numbered 201‑A through 206‑A also suffered damage. Vimal Hosiery Agency alone is estimated to have incurred losses of ₹65–70 lakh, while the total damage to the remaining establishments is still being evaluated.

The FIR was filed on the basis of a statement submitted by Sub‑Inspector Narendra, with SHO Rakesh Khalia appointed to lead the investigation. Authorities will now scrutinise the building’s structural compliance, fire‑safety installations, Fire NOC status and overall safety protocols.
