Jalandhar: A fresh wave of alarm has gripped Jalandhar as two major educational institutions—APJ School and Army Public School—received chilling bomb threats via email. The communications, which have triggered a massive security response, have prompted local law enforcement to launch an immediate investigation into the source of these messages.
Expanding Scope of Threats
The situation escalated significantly as the emails extended their scope beyond educational facilities. The threats explicitly mentioned the railway network, warning of potential dangers to trains bound for Delhi on November 1. Furthermore, the messages cited specific plans to target critical railway infrastructure across Amritsar, Firozpur, Ludhiana, and Bathinda.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, the emails also referenced a security threat concerning Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to Sangrur. This multi-pronged threat has forced intelligence agencies to broaden their scope of inquiry.
Emergency Response and Security Measures
In response to the alerts, police forces and specialized bomb disposal squads were immediately dispatched to the affected schools to conduct thorough sanitization operations. While the schools remain open, security presence has been significantly bolstered to ensure the safety of the student body and faculty.
The primary focus remains the safety of our children and the public; we are treating every aspect of these communications with the utmost seriousness, stated a local police official.
A Pattern of Disruption
This incident marks a concerning trend in the region. Jalandhar has seen a recurring pattern of such threats over the past year, with multiple schools targeted on several occasions, including incidents in December 2025, January 2026, and throughout the spring and autumn of 2026. These threats have often coincided with high-profile political events, suggesting a calculated attempt to create widespread panic.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are currently utilizing cyber-forensic tools to trace the origin of the emails. While the credibility of these threats remains under investigation, the frequency of these events has sparked a wider debate regarding the vulnerability of public institutions and the necessity for enhanced digital and physical security protocols across Punjab.
