Three‑Day Intensive Drive to Fill Gaps in the Electoral Roll

Between 7 October and 9 October, election authorities in Jharkhand will set up dedicated digitisation camps at polling stations throughout the state. The operation is part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the rolls and aims to give citizens who were previously missed an opportunity to enrol.

Emphasis on Fresh Voter Enrolment

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has directed District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to ensure the three‑day campaign runs smoothly. Residents who are not yet listed can submit Form 6 at any of the camps. Staff will also accelerate the digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received from Booth Level Officers—Form 6 for new registrations, Form 7 for deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or updates.

Statewide Mega Help‑Desk Planned for 10 October

After the digitisation sprint, every polling station will host a BLO‑BLA‑2 meeting‑cum‑mega help‑desk on 10 October. Voters can obtain assistance on registration, lodge objections, review notices issued during the revision, and resolve any other roll‑related concerns. This marks the fourth pan‑state effort to demystify the revision process and address voter queries.

Ensuring No Eligible Voter Is Left Out

CEO Kumar stressed that the election machinery must ensure every eligible Indian citizen is captured in the roll. Officers have been instructed to intensify outreach in areas with vulnerable or under‑represented groups, providing additional support wherever required.

Why Inaccuracies Appear in the Roll

The chief electoral officer explained that mismatches in voter records may arise from enumeration errors, inaccurate mapping in earlier revisions, or legacy data glitches. The current SIR exercise is not meant to rectify every historic mistake; its primary goal is to produce a precise, up‑to‑date roll for the forthcoming election.

Eligibility for Inclusion

Applicants must be Indian citizens, have turned 18 on or before 1 October 2026, and normally reside within the jurisdiction of the relevant polling station. Required documents will be verified at the time of registration.

Election officials have been tasked with speeding up the processing and digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 so that applicants receive prompt assistance and the roll reflects the latest information. The final roll from this SIR cycle is scheduled for release on 19 October.
