Arrest in the Vicinity of the Line of Control

Security units patrolling the Lam sector of Rajouri’s Nowshera region stopped a teenage girl as she moved toward the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). The 17‑year‑old was immediately taken into custody for preliminary questioning and later handed over to local police.

The individual has been identified as Samiya Azeem, daughter of Mohammad Azeem, a resident of Khuiretta in Pakistan‑occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).

Police Take Charge of the Probe

After the army concluded its initial interrogation, Samiya was transferred to the Nowshera Police. Investigators are now reconstructing the route she used to reach the Indian side of the LoC.

In the first round of questioning, the teenager claimed that her crossing was accidental. Security agencies are currently cross‑checking this statement and scrutinising the surrounding circumstances.

All Angles Are Being Examined

Both defence and civil police teams are conducting a thorough review of the case. They are verifying her identity, mapping the exact path she took, and determining whether the breach was truly inadvertent or driven by another motive.

Given the strategic sensitivity of the area, officials are handling the matter with heightened vigilance, awaiting further evidence from ongoing interrogations and verification processes.

Since Samiya is only 17, the investigation will adhere to legal procedures applicable to minors. The primary aim is to establish the factual basis of her presence near the LoC, with no official motive disclosed at this stage.

Updates will follow as the inquiry develops and authorities decide on any subsequent action.
