Security and traffic protocols intensified for President Murmu’s three‑day Himachal itinerary
In preparation for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit across Himachal Pradesh, police, Home Guard units and other security agencies have beefed up checkpoints, roadblocks and crowd‑control arrangements along the Bilaspur‑Manali corridor. The bolstered presence is meant to ensure smooth movement for the President’s engagements at AIIMS Bilaspur, the Manali region and the Atal Tunnel.
AIIMS Bilaspur’s outpatient department closed for a day
All routine OPD services at AIIMS Bilaspur will be halted on Tuesday. No new registrations or standard consultations will be entertained during this period. The suspension applies solely to outpatient activities; emergency care and treatment for in‑patients will proceed without interruption.
President to attend AIIMS convocation ceremony
The President is slated to land on the AIIMS Bilaspur helipad at approximately 10:35 a.m. and participate in the convocation that begins at 10:45 a.m. The ceremony will see 92 doctors, nursing trainees and paramedical students receive their degrees. After the event, the President will depart for Manali around 11:55 a.m. and will remain in the hill station for the following two days.
Vehicle movement curtailed near the Atal Tunnel
Travel to the Atal Tunnel will be temporarily restricted as part of the security plan. Authorities have announced that vehicle flow toward the tunnel will be stopped from 6 p.m. on 6 October until noon on 7 October. The stretch between Palchan and the Rohtang‑Atal Tunnel entrance will be closed during this window. Motorists are advised to adjust their itineraries accordingly.
President’s agenda at the Atal Tunnel and Manali
On Wednesday morning, President Murmu will inspect the Atal Tunnel before returning to Manali. A visit to the nearby Hidimba Temple is also on the schedule. The President is expected to leave Himachal Pradesh for Delhi on 8 October.
Emergency services at AIIMS remain fully operational
While the OPD doors will stay closed for routine cases, the emergency department will continue to function round‑the‑clock. Patients already admitted will receive uninterrupted treatment. AIIMS officials have urged anyone needing non‑urgent follow‑ups or regular check‑ups to reschedule for a later date.
The temporary measures are solely intended to facilitate the President’s movements and to maintain a secure environment for all official events in Bilaspur and Manali.
