A quick stop spirals into a crime scene
During the early hours of the morning, Vivek and his relatives pulled over near Rai to shake off exhaustion. After securing the vehicle, they settled inside for a short nap, unaware that a burglary was already unfolding nearby.
How the robbery unfolded
In the pre‑dawn gloom, Vivek awoke to see a stranger crouching beside the car. The intruder began prying open the locked doors, extracting a bag, a laptop, a smartphone, earbuds, chargers and other personal effects. Before Vivek could react, the man bolted, leapt over a metal railing and linked up with two accomplices waiting on a motorcycle across the road.
Two‑wheel escape
The trio sped away in a coordinated dash, leaving the family bewildered and their belongings gone. Vivek estimated the total loss at about ₹2.25 lakh.
Police action and ongoing investigation
Vivek, a resident of Maruti Kunj, filed a formal complaint with the Rai police, urging swift recovery of the stolen items and apprehension of the culprits. Authorities have registered the FIR, are reviewing CCTV footage, interviewing witnesses and tracing the motorcycle’s registration to pinpoint the thieves.
Investigators stressed the need for heightened vigilance during roadside rests, especially on isolated stretches, and reminded motorists to double‑check that doors are locked and windows are closed before stepping out.
"Never assume a brief stop is safe; a quick glance at your surroundings can prevent a costly nightmare," a senior police officer advised.
