A Vatican‑City Motif Takes Form
In the coal‑rich belt of Rajrappa, the Shri Shri Durga Puja Committee is crafting a pandal that mirrors the grandeur of Italy’s Vatican City. Under the direction of Pankaj Tent House from Ramgarh, more than a dozen artisans are busy erecting a structure that will tower about 51 feet in height and stretch 70 feet across. The committee has allocated roughly ₹7.75 lakh to bring this iconic silhouette to life, promising attendees a glimpse of the holy capital’s architecture.
Fair Attractions & Cultural Programme
Beyond the majestic pavilion, the venue will thrum with a host of amusements. Organisers intend to set up close to ten distinct rides, featuring a daring stunt called the “Well of Death.” Food stalls, souvenir kiosks and a dedicated cultural troupe will keep devotees and families entertained throughout the festivities. This year’s Durga idol is expected to measure six to seven feet tall.
Intensified Security Arrangements
Anticipating a massive influx of visitors, the committee is bolstering safety with a network of around 60 CCTV cameras monitoring the pandal and its environs. Additional police personnel from the Rajrappa station will stand by to maintain order and respond swiftly to any incidents.
Spiritual Setting
Rajrappa already enjoys a sacred reputation thanks to the renowned Maa Chhinnamastika Temple, which attracts pilgrims from distant regions during Navratri. This year’s mix of a Vatican‑themed pandal, lively fair, cultural showcases and heightened security is poised to make the Durga Puja celebration a memorable highlight for worshippers and tourists alike.
