Narkatiaganj: A 35‑year‑old married woman was discovered dead under suspicious conditions at her rented residence in Prakashnagar, Ward 11, sparking alarm among local residents. The body, identified as Gudiya Patel, bore visible marks around the neck.
According to reports, Gudiya had been living apart from her husband for almost eight years; her spouse is said to be residing in Nepal. She had recently moved into the aforementioned rented house in Prakashnagar.
Family members claim that Ashish Jaiswal, also known as Siku, a resident of Ward 1, had been a regular visitor to Gudiya’s home for the past three to four years. Both her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, allege that Ashish strangled Gudiya to death.
The relatives also say that an argument erupted between Gudiya and Ashish roughly four days before the tragedy, and that Gudiya informed her maternal family about the dispute.
Relatives added that Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son spent the night of the incident at his maternal grandmother’s house, leaving his mother alone. Her lifeless body was found later that night.
"She told us about the fight with Ashish just days before she died," said Anjani Devi, Gudiya’s mother.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving a tip‑off and have begun a thorough investigation. SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV stated that the case is being examined from every possible angle, and that further action will depend on the post‑mortem report and any evidence uncovered.
