Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today commissioned a fleet of 87 cutting‑edge interceptor vehicles at Lok Bhavan, signalling a decisive step toward high‑technology policing in Uttar Pradesh. The combination of four‑wheel and two‑wheel units is intended to sharpen traffic monitoring, improve road‑safety protocols and reinforce law‑enforcement presence throughout the state.
Modern Policing at the Core
Addressing officials and the press, the CM traced Uttar Pradesh’s law‑and‑order progress since 2017 and reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to overhaul police operations with digital tools. He emphasized that the police commissionerate framework demands meticulous planning, bold leadership and state‑of‑the‑art equipment to foster a secure environment for development and civic life.
Tech‑Savvy Interceptor Fleet
The newly unveiled interceptors boast sophisticated surveillance kits, GPS‑linked tracking and real‑time communication suites. Deployed on busy arterial corridors, congested junctions and other high‑risk zones, they will feed instant data to Integrated Command and Control Centres.
Adityanath also referenced the broader Safe City programme, noting that the command centres already operational in several districts are bolstering both preventive patrols and investigative efforts.
Honouring Courage and Service
The event featured a medal ceremony for police personnel who have shown exceptional dedication. Among the honourees was the late STF Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh, posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his gallantry, with his family receiving the award on his behalf.
The gathering also marked the launch of former DGP Prakash Singh’s memoir Sangharsh, a candid chronicle of police reforms and his decades‑long service.
Road Safety Remains a Top Priority
Speaking on the persistent challenge of road fatalities, the chief minister underscored that technology‑driven enforcement, paired with vigilant monitoring, is crucial to saving lives. The deployment of the 87 interceptors forms a cornerstone of the state’s broader strategy to modernise traffic management and protect commuters.
Through these initiatives, Uttar Pradesh aims to set a benchmark for contemporary policing, blending traditional bravery with digital precision.
