In a decisive raid, the Crime Branch’s Sector‑30 unit in Faridabad confiscated an eye‑watering 2,496 kg of firecracker‑grade chemicals from a modest house in Mukesh Colony, Ballabhgarh. The cache comprised roughly 2,296 kg of potassium nitrate and 200 kg of sulphur, leading to the arrest of a local resident identified as Puneet.

Anonymous Tip Sparks the Operation

Investigators acted on an anonymous tip that warned of a large stockpile of explosive‑grade substances being hoarded in a residential area. Acting swiftly, the team detained Puneet and swept the premises, uncovering the substantial haul.

During initial questioning, Puneet revealed that the chemicals had been shipped from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. Police are now tracing the supply chain, focusing on chemical dealers in Hathras who may have facilitated the transfer.

Exploring a Wider Network

Detectives are investigating whether the seized stock was intended for illegal firecracker manufacturing or formed part of a larger, organized operation. Although Puneet has no prior record, officials are canvassing the neighbourhood and reaching out to potential business partners to map the distribution network.

Safety Concerns for the Public

The find highlights the hazards of storing vast quantities of volatile chemicals in densely populated zones. The seized material has been secured, and the inquiry continues to determine its intended destination and any additional conspirators.

What Comes Next

Puneet remains in police custody for a three‑day remand, during which investigators will intensify their questioning. The focus now shifts to pinpointing the original source of the chemicals and uncovering any other individuals or firms involved in the illicit procurement.
