Tragic Shooting of a Former Village Leader Stuns Bathinda
On Sunday evening, Jagtar Singh, who previously served as the sarpanch of Phoos Mandi, was violently attacked outside a liquor outlet close to Jassi Pau Wali Chowk on Bathinda’s outskirts. He sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Police Reaction and Evidence Gathering
The incident was reported to the local police almost instantly. Responding officers secured the area, established a perimeter, and began a meticulous collection of forensic material to piece together the chain of events.
Suspect Apprehended
Investigators quickly identified and detained Gurbax Singh, another resident of Phoos Mandi, in connection with the killing. The presumed weapon was recovered during the operation.
Bathinda Superintendent of Police (City) Aswant Singh Dhaliwal noted that preliminary inquiries suggest a personal dispute between the accused and the victim. Interrogations are ongoing to determine the precise motive.
