October’s Heat Still Holds On
Even though the calendar has turned to October, Haryana continues to wrestle with summer‑type temperatures. Daytime highs are running a few degrees above the seasonal average, and the sun remains relentless over large parts of the region.
Data from the Agricultural Meteorology Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar shows that the last four to five days have been dominated by dry westerly breezes, pushing daytime peaks to 3‑4 °C above normal and night‑time lows to 2‑3 °C higher than usual.
Two Western Disturbances Expected Oct 7‑12
Weather models now signal a shift in the pattern as two successive western disturbances roll in between 7 and 12 October. These systems are likely to introduce cloud cover, thunderstorms, rain showers and gusty winds across several districts.
First Disturbance – Begins Oct 7
The first disturbance is forecast to touch the Himalayan foothills on 7 October, with its peripheral effects spilling into Haryana that night. Northern districts could experience thunderstorms, strong gusts and light rain from 7‑9 October, while parts of the south‑west may also see scattered showers.
The incoming rain is expected to shave a few degrees off the thermometer, offering a short‑lived respite from the persistent heat.
Second Disturbance – Arrives Around Oct 9
A second western disturbance is projected to become active near 9 October. Its influence should persist from 10‑12 October, bringing partly cloudy skies, renewed wind bursts and additional rainfall in several locations.
The added moisture and wind will help curb the daytime highs that have dominated the past week.
Post‑Rain Cool Breeze
Once the twin systems move out, north‑westerly breezes are expected to sweep the region, driving down both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Residents can look forward to a noticeable drop in heat and humidity as cooler air settles in.
