Tragic Night on Mahavir Krishna Avenue Claims Life of Indore Entrepreneur
On a Sunday evening in the Aerodrome police‑station area of Indore, 44‑year‑old businessman Kamal Vagela lost his life after his vehicle struck a provisional divider set up for ongoing metro construction. He was driving home along Mahavir Krishna Avenue when the accident occurred.
Police reports indicate that Kamal was traveling with several companions. After dropping them off at various points, he continued alone toward his residence. Moments later, his car slammed into the construction barrier positioned close to his house. Bystanders who witnessed the crash called emergency services, and Kamal was rushed to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, where he was later declared dead despite intensive medical attention.
Kamal, son of Durgashankar Vagela, owned a hair‑cosmetics enterprise. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
Family Raises Concerns Over Safety Measures at the Metro Site
In the aftermath, Kamal’s relatives have voiced strong objections to the apparent lack of proper warning signage around the metro construction zone. They contend that the temporary divider was installed without clear markings or alerts for motorists, creating a blind spot that likely contributed to the fatal collision.
“We were shocked to see no signs or barricades indicating a construction zone. The authorities must review traffic management here immediately,” a family spokesperson said.
The family is requesting a comprehensive explanation of the safety protocols in place and urging officials to conduct a thorough reassessment of traffic control measures in the area.
Police Open Inquiry and Examine CCTV Footage
Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the crash. Officers are reviewing CCTV recordings from nearby cameras to determine how the vehicle approached the divider and whether additional factors played a role.
Investigators are also inspecting the road condition and the overall layout of the construction zone. A final report will be issued after all video evidence, on‑site inspections, and witness statements have been analyzed.
