Dehradun – A fresh skill‑development drive has been unveiled to ready Uttarakhand’s young workforce for the fast‑changing demands of industry. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Department of Skill Development & Employment signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the M3M Foundation, committing to link graduates with jobs and entrepreneurial avenues through training in contemporary technical trades.
The MoU was formalised in Dehradun by Sanjay Kumar, Director (Training) of the department, and Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, Managing Trustee & President of the M3M Foundation.
Four Pilot Cities Selected for the First Phase
The initial rollout will see dedicated training hubs set up in Dehradun, Haldwani, Kashipur and Pithoragarh. Depending on local demand, infrastructure readiness and beneficiary interest, the scheme may later expand to include Almora and Barkot.
Each centre will initially offer at least two courses tailored to the needs of nearby industries. Beyond technical instruction, the programme will actively facilitate placements, nurture industry linkages, and pave pathways for sustainable livelihoods once students complete their studies.
Curriculum Focused on Future‑Ready Trades
Learners will be trained in high‑growth technical domains such as Electric Vehicles (EV), Auto‑Electrical Maintenance, Automobile Repair & Maintenance, Internet of Things (IoT) and Plumbing. Course selection will be driven by regional employment trends and employer requirements, ensuring that graduates acquire skills that are immediately relevant.
A core aim of the initiative is to tighten the feedback loop between training institutes and the private sector, thereby boosting placement rates and long‑term career prospects for participants.
Employment Outcomes at the Heart of the Programme
Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson and Trustee of the M3M Foundation, emphasized that the partnership goes beyond classroom instruction. “Our goal is to mould youth in line with industry expectations and to connect them with viable job or self‑employment opportunities,” she said.
The collaboration will prioritize industry‑oriented curricula, rigorous quality standards, and continuous monitoring of graduates’ employment trajectories to ensure lasting impact.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials and training‑institution representatives, including Deputy Director (Employment) Chandrakanta, Deputy Director (Training) Niranjan Khugshal, Principal Dinkar Rautela, UKSDM Nodal Officer Vinita Badoni, and M3M’s Arvind Kumar Sharma.
