Arrests and confiscated weapons

The Crime Branch unit at Farukhnagar, Gurugram, apprehended three young men believed to have plotted a large‑scale criminal act in Delhi intended to create widespread panic. During the operation, investigators recovered two imported pistols and five cartridges.

The individuals taken into custody are:

  • Abhay (alias Maulad), 20 – resident of Kheda Jhajhrola village.
  • Jatin (alias Jony), 29 – hailing from Patel Nagar, Sonipat.
  • Sagar – also from Kheda Jhajhrola.

All three have been charged under the Arms Act at the Sector‑10 police station.

Sequence of the arrests

Separate teams tracked each suspect to different locations. Abhay was intercepted near the Garhi flyover on the New Pataudi‑Gurugram Road, Jatin was nabbed in Farukhnagar, and Sagar was stopped close to the KMP in the same vicinity. While attempting to flee, Sagar tried to leap from a flyover, fractured his leg and was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. Further legal steps will be taken after his discharge.

Investigation into the source of the firearms

Interrogations revealed that Abhay received the pistols from Jatin. Police are now probing how Jatin sourced the weapons, with early leads indicating that the arms may have passed through additional intermediaries.

Authorities suspect the trio maintained contact with contacts abroad, possibly receiving directives for illegal money recovery and extortion activities. The alleged plan targeted a major crime in Delhi to spread fear, though the exact intended victims are still under investigation.

Broader network under scrutiny

Investigators are mapping the complete supply chain that delivered the weapons to the accused, examining communication records and seeking other participants in the purported conspiracy.

Records show that Jatin already faces a case in Delhi under the Excise Act, prompting officials to review his past dealings as part of the ongoing probe.

ACP Naveen Sharma stressed that the investigation continues to uncover the origin of the firearms, the wider network, and any additional criminal links the arrested men may have. The enquiry remains active, with further updates expected as questioning progresses and new leads are verified.
